What WebP to JPG conversion does

WebP is a modern image format used widely on websites because it is small, but many programs, editors and older devices still cannot open it. Converting WebP to JPG gives you a universally supported file you can view, edit, print or upload anywhere without compatibility issues.

How the conversion works

Each WebP image is opened and re-saved as a standard JPG. If the image has a transparent background, it is placed on a white background, since JPG does not support transparency. Quality is kept high, so the result looks the same to the eye while staying easy to share.

All processing takes place on our server, and no files are retained. Your files and the converted results are deleted automatically once the download is complete. Metadata embedded in the original, such as the location and time it was taken, is removed during conversion.

How to use it

  1. Drag your WebP files into the upload area, or click to select them. Multiple files can be added at once.
  2. Click Convert. A progress bar shows the upload, followed by processing.
  3. Download the converted JPG files.

Good to know

JPG is the safest choice for compatibility and everyday sharing. If your WebP has transparency you want to keep, or you need an exact copy with no quality loss, convert to PNG instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I open WebP files on my computer?

WebP is a modern web format that saves space, but many older image viewers, editors, and apps still don't support it — which is why a WebP saved from a website often won't open. Converting to JPG makes the image work everywhere.

What happens to a transparent WebP background?

JPG doesn't support transparency, so any transparent areas are filled with a white background during conversion. If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG instead of JPG.

Will converting WebP to JPG lose quality?

There is a small, one-time quality change because both formats are lossy and the image is re-encoded once at high quality (85). For ordinary photos the difference is not noticeable, and the result opens on any device.

Does it work with animated WebP?

This tool is designed for static images. JPG cannot hold animation, so animated WebP is not the right source here — for a moving image, keep it as WebP or convert to GIF instead.

How many files can I convert, and is it private?

You can upload up to 30 WebP files per batch (20MB each, 200MB total), returned as JPGs in a single ZIP. Every uploaded and converted file is deleted automatically one hour after processing.
